Kyle Richards is celebrating a major milestone: two years of being alcohol-free!
On Thursday, July 18, the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star, 55, took to Instagram to mark her special achievement. “This week was my 2-year anniversary of being alcohol-free (July 15). I remember when the idea of going 2 weeks seemed impossible,” she shared.
In her Instagram post, Richards showed off her toned physique with a mirror selfie. Wearing a black two-piece workout set, she flexed her bicep proudly in front of dumbbells and gym equipment.
“I’m really proud of myself for sticking to this path,” Richards continued.
She also opened up about the challenges she faced, including resistance from others who missed her “party” persona. “I know some people wish I’d start drinking again, even friends with the best intentions. The hardest part was the pressure to be ‘Party Kyle,’” she explained.
Reflecting on her past, Richards admitted she was a “people pleaser” and didn’t get much encouragement early on. Despite missing the fun of her old lifestyle, she emphasized how her mental and physical health have become more important. “I may still drop a split here and there,” she joked, “but looking and feeling better without alcohol keeps me motivated.”
Richards also noted that facing tough times would have been much harder if she had been drinking. She didn’t go into specifics about these challenges, but her post came shortly after her estranged husband, Mauricio Umansky, was seen kissing a mystery woman in Mykonos, Greece. The sighting followed the news of their separation after 27 years of marriage.
Richards and Umansky have three daughters together: Alexia, 28, Sophia, 24, and Portia, 16. Kyle also has a daughter, Farrah Brittany, 35, from her previous marriage.
In a recent podcast, Richards talked about how strange it felt when Umansky moved out of their shared home. “I came home to an unusually quiet house. It was very real all of a sudden,” she said.
