Selena Gomez recently became emotional on The Graham Norton Show when British comedian Miranda Hart praised her for being open about her health struggles.

On the October 11 episode, both stars appeared alongside Ncuti Gatwa and Zoe Saldaña. Hart shared how Selena’s documentary My Mind & Me had inspired her to share her own journey.

As Hart explained, watching the documentary made her reflect on whether she should talk about her own health challenges. “When I saw your documentary, I thought, ‘Do I share?’ You know, ‘Is this something I should do?’” Hart revealed. She then expressed how Selena’s openness gave her the courage to continue writing her latest book, I Haven’t Been Entirely Honest with You.

Selena’s documentary, released in 2022, revealed her experiences with bipolar disorder, body image struggles, and her battle with lupus. The honesty and vulnerability shown in the film struck a chord with Hart, who shared her own story of living with a chronic condition, Lyme disease. Though their journeys were different, Hart expressed that watching someone in pain, as Selena was, helped her relate and pushed her to share her own story.

As Hart spoke, Selena grew visibly emotional. She wiped away tears and even reached out to hold Hart’s hand across Gatwa’s lap during the touching exchange. Although Hart lightened the moment with a quick joke, her message was heartfelt and resonated deeply with both Gomez and the audience.

Selena, while emotional, quietly thanked Hart for her kind words. The singer and actress has been candid about her mental health journey, reflecting in earlier interviews that she has reached a "much better place" now. Her willingness to share her struggles has inspired many, including Hart, to open up about their challenges.

Hart, who recently published her book, explained that her work reflects on the difficult decade she endured. She shared that while her book isn’t about offering cures, it’s about finding the treasures in tough times and learning to be more honest with oneself. In her Instagram posts, Hart encouraged others to embrace who they are, adding that vulnerability is part of the journey to healing.
