NBA Champion Otto Porter Jr. Announces Retirement After Playing 11 NBA Seasons
Otto Porter Jr., a professional basketball player, has announced his retirement from the NBA. He was the third overall pick in the 2013 Draft and played for several teams, including Washington, Chicago, Orlando, Golden State, and Toronto. Porter helped Golden State win the championship in the 2021-22 season.
During his career, he played in 527 games and had an average of 10.3 points and 4.9 rebounds. Porter's 3-point shooting percentage of 39.7 ranks 61st in NBA history. He started his career slowly, averaging only 2.1 points per game as a rookie. However, he improved steadily and had an average of 14.7 points per game by his fifth season. Unfortunately, Porter was plagued by injuries, especially during his time with the Bulls and Magic. Despite this, he played in 63 games for Golden State and helped them win a title.

Recently, Porter played for the Raptors but was traded to Utah on February 8, 2022. Utah then waived him, which led to his retirement announcement. Otto Porter Jr., the No. 3 pick in the 2013 Draft and a member of Golden State’s 2021-22 championship team, has announced his retirement after 11 NBA seasons.Porter, 30, finishes his career with averages of 10.3 points and 4.9 rebounds in 527 games with Washington, Chicago, Orlando, Golden State and finally Toronto. The third overall pick out of Georgetown in 2013, Porter averaged just 2.1 points as a rookie but steadily improved to 14.7 ppg by his fifth season. Porter was frequently hampered by injuries, particularly during stints with the Bulls and the Magic, before playing in 63 games and averaging 8.2 ppg primarily in reserve for Golden State’s most recent title team.
He played sporadically for the Raptors over the past two seasons before his trade to Utah on Feb. 8. He was waived on Monday without an appearance with the Jazz, followed shortly by his announcement.
